Bernadette Peters (born Bernadette lazzara on 28 February 1948) was an American actor, singer, and children's book author born in Ozone Park Queens New York . In her career, which spans five decades she has starred in musical theatre films and TV shows along with performing as a solo artist and recording. She has been nominated for 7 Tony Awards and won two and eight Drama Desk Awards. Grammy Awards went to four Broadway Cast Albums, in which she was a part of. Peters began her acting career on stage in 1960s as young people, but she went on to work in 1970s in television as well as film. Her early performances, roles in The Muppet Show The Carol Burnett Show and for other television shows and films were well-received. Also, she was praised for the roles she played in movies like Silent Movie The Jerk Pennies from Heaven and Annie. The year was 1980 when she started returning to Broadway and became one the biggest stars of this stage for the next three decades. Peters has also recorded 6 solo albums as well as several singles. She has also recorded several cast albums. In addition, she is a regular performer in her solo act. Peters also works as a film and TV actor who has been awarded once and nominated in three Emmy Awards.
